I was equal parts excited to visit Watkins Glen as I was to stay at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. While I am not one of those people who need to stay in a fancy hotel while traveling, there are some places where the hotel becomes an extension of the trip. Watkins Glen was one of those places.
The Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel drew me in. Perhaps it was its ideal location, its high-end amenities, or its lake-side charm. Not only is the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel the place to stay, it is also the place for locals to congregate.

The Location
Watkins Glen is a small village in the Finger Lakes, located on the southern tip of Seneca Lake. Watkins Glen, New York is a central location for a base of exploration of the Finger Lakes Region.
Located directly behind the Seneca Lake Pier in Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. Not only does the hotel have lake views, but it is also only steps away from the pier. Whether you prefer to take in the lakeside atmosphere from an adirondack chair on property or take a walk along the Seneca Lake Pier, there is no shortage of places to relax. To delve even further into the lake lifestyle, take an evening sail on Schooner “True Love”. The sailboat is a relaxing way to enjoy the lake and to take in incredible views of the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. While in Watkins Glen, don’t miss Watkins Glen State Park. Watkins Glen State Park is under a mile from the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. You can either drive or walk the 15-20 minute walk through the village via N Franklin Street.

The Rooms
The rooms at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel are so spacious. I stayed in the King Village View room. The room had so much space to unwind. I had a hard time deciding whether to relax on the chaise lounge or the king bed. The king bed ultimately won, with its pillow top mattress and 810 thread count linens. It is one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on.
While the King Village View room had more than enough space for my time in Watkins Glen, check out one the Lake View rooms or suites for a longer stay. I appreciated that not only was the room and bathroom spacious, but there was is a separate vanity and dining spaces in the room. These separate spaces made me feel at home in the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel.
The Cuisine
We took full advantage of the cuisine at Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel’s Blue Pointe Grille. We had breakfast in the dining room, overlooking a large window with views of the harbor. The breakfast options were standard yet substantial. I stuck to the classic Harbor Breakfast and was more than satisfied. The prices are very reasonable for being in such a prime location.
Dinner service is where the Blue Pointe Grille shines. We lucked out with a beautiful evening and were able to eat dinner on the patio (open seasonally). The atmosphere on the patio was relaxing with the fire pit roaring and the quiet chatter all around. We enjoyed glasses of local Finger Lakes wine and our bread basket while waiting for our entrées. Everything on the menu looked divine. I went with the Seafood Scampi, which had lobster, shrimp, and scallops in a wine butter sauce. I went to bed full and satisfied that night.
The Amenities
During my short stay at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, I was able to experience a taste of the amenities offered.
It’s the little things that make a superb hotel stay such as the nightly turndown service offered at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. After arriving back in my room from dinner at the Blue Pointe Grille, my sheets were turned down with Belgium chocolates on the pillows, the curtains were drawn and the tv was set to the news. It was such a welcome surprise to be able to easily settle in for the night as everything was ready for me.
Before turning in for the night, I took a quick dip in the pool and jacuzzi. To me, there is nothing more rejuvenating than soaking in a jacuzzi after a day of exploring.
Coffee stations located on every floor make caffeinating in the morning a breeze. There was a selection of Seattle’s Best Coffee and Tea Forte. All the details were perfectly in place during my stay. Book your stay now at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel!
Come Join My Journey was hosted at Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel by Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce, however, my opinions are as always my own.

Such a beautiful location. I’m sure the nature all around was amazing and then coming back to such a great hotel. You were really lucky.
What an amazing place to unwind and refuel! I love the pool and meals! YUM!
That’s a gorgeous hotel! Love the way you described it.
Your stay looks beautiful! Especially the Watkins Glen State Park!
I remember Seneca Lake and the Fingers Lake region, I went to university there. The charm and warmth of the hotel is just so reminiscent of the whole area. Looks like you had a beautiful stay
I know exactly what you mean about a hotel becoming an extension. New Orleans, LA was like that, Vegas is like that. And when I visit New York, it’s always an extension!
