Checking In: Diamante K in Tulum

Falling asleep to the sounds of waves in the comfort of your canopy bed and waking up to the sunrise over the sea from your private bungalow is what you can expect while staying at Diamante K in Tulum. Diamante K is a collection of bungalows on the beach in Tulum. These bungalows are beautiful, boho, and are an idyllic spot to stay on the beach. I have never stayed somewhere so dreamy, and I wholeheartedly believe everyone should stay in a beach bungalow in Tulum. From bungalow #13, I was a mere 10 feet from the water. In just steps, I could get from my bed to the beach. I couldn’t think of a more relaxing way to spend a couple of days in Tulum.

The Location

Diamante K is located on the public side of Tulum’s beach road. There is an entrance to the public beach, Playa Paraiso, just a few minutes walk from Diamante K. However, while Diamante K is located on the public side of the beach road, it has its own small private beach. So you are getting the price point of being on the public side of the beach with the luxuries of having a private beach on property.

This property is located within the Tulum National Park, adding to its’ secluded and relaxing atmosphere. Surrounded by lush jungle and the Caribbean Sea, you will feel like you’re in a far-flung jungle locale while, in reality, you are near plenty of attractions. This is the perfect location if you want to spend a couple of relaxing days enjoying the beach. Due to its location in the National Park, Diamante K is only 1.5 miles from the Tulum Ruins, making it the ideal spot to stay if you wish to visit the ruins. It takes under 10 minutes to bike to the Tulum Ruins from Diamante K. This side of the beach road is quieter than the private hotel zone. While there are fewer shopping and dining options, some incredible restaurants are still near Diamante K.

The Beach

Diamante K has its’ own private beach on the property. It is a small private cove-like beach steps away from the bungalows, with lounge chairs and cabanas available for hotel and restaurant guests. Since it’s in a cove, the water at Diamante K’s beach is much calmer than in the open waters of the public beach. While this side of the beach road tends to be a bit rockier than the private beachside, every morning, the staff at Diamante K rakes the rocks from this small beach to ensure that it is pleasant and sandy for guests.

The Property

In addition to the beach, there are various spots along the rocks with lounge chairs and cabanas to relax. These are a bit more secluded than the beach and are great if you’d like an even more relaxing spot. The rocks are also a fantastic spot to watch the sunset.

The Bungalows

The rooms at Diamante K are private beach bungalows that are a dream come true. There are thirty bungalows scattered across the property, each one uniquely its own. Depending on your budget and needs, eleven types of bungalows are available to choose from. Many of the bungalows do have a private bathroom, yet there are eight that share a communal bathroom.

I opted for one of the King Ocean View bungalows and ended up getting the best room on the property (in my opinion). Request room #13, a bungalow with direct access to the beach. I could see the shore from my bedroom window. Yet, I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the bungalows.

Each room has a beautiful canopy over the beds, which serves as a practical mosquito net and adds to the dreamy aesthetic. The high thatched roofs make the bungalows feel extra spacious. There is no air conditioning, yet the sea breeze and fan over the beds make it very comfortable.

The King Ocean View bungalow #13 has a private outdoor bathroom attached to the bungalow. There is nothing quite like showering outside under the sway of palm trees. You can enjoy the beach all day and night with a bathroom and bungalow like this.

The Cuisine

The food at Diamante K is quite good, so there is no need to leave this little slice of paradise if you don’t want to. The restaurant on property, Casa Maria, serves upscale Mexican cuisine that will be a treat to your pallet. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, this restaurant has delicious food and incredible views.
