Checking into the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel, I felt a sense of ease and comfort. I felt that I had been here before, walked these halls. Yet, this was my first time staying here. The Hart Harbor Hotel collection has a way of making you feel at home with its’ cohesive design elements. While I have never stayed at this property, I did stay at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. The property made me feel a bit nostalgic. I walked through the familiar layout of the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel to my room. And that is where the differences came in, the view from the window looked out upon the harbor front of the St. Lawrence River.

The Location
The 1000 Islands encompasses a group of islands along the St. Lawrence River as well as mainland Canada and USA. With that, there are a lot of places to stay in the 1000 Islands as well as types of accommodations. You can find various hotels, rentals and campsites. Yet, the 1000 Island Harbor Hotel is the only 4 star hotel you will find on the US side.
The 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel is located in Clayton, NY. After exploring the 1000 Islands, I can’t think of a better hotel location than Clayton. Clayton has a small town atmosphere with beautiful harbor views. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance from the hotel. And for the harbor? All you have to do is step through the front gate of the hotel and you’ll find a walkway along the water that leads you to the boat piers and town.
The Rooms
Settling into my room at the 1000 Island Harbor Hotel was a breeze. I quickly checked in and made my way up to my Double Queen River Balcony Room. The rooms at this property are massive and make for a very comfortable stay. This is the type of hotel where its hard to leave your room. The room had everything I could need including comfortable beds a large bathroom with a detached vanity area, a dining nook/work desk and non traditional hotel items such as cotton swabs and a wine opener.
I was beyond impressed with the turn down service in the room. When I arrived back to my room after a busy day exploring, I was thrilled to see my curtains were drawn and my bed turned down with chocolates.
The best part about my room at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel was the balcony. The spacious balcony had the most amazing views of the harbor. I spent both mornings and evenings in the islands relaxing on the balcony. This was the ideal spot to catch the sunset from the comfort of my own room!
The Cuisine
Dining at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel is an experience in itself. The Seaway Grille is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menus vary throughout the day from breakfast classics, lunchtime sandwiches and delectable dinner entrees. I had the pleasure of dining at the Seaway Grille twice during my stay: for breakfast and dinner.
I sat inside for breakfast and enjoyed an indulgent Blueberry Stuffed French Toast with ricotta cheese, a heaping amount of blueberries and a dusting of powdered sugar. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals and this one did not disappoint.
For dinner, I opted for patio setting. The patio is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal in the 1000 Islands. I was able to enjoy live music from the Clams and Jams event while eating my delicious meal. I opted for the Seafood Scampi, which had lobster, shrimp and scallops in a wine butter sauce. The food was wonderful, the river views beautiful and the ambiance was relaxing!
The Amenities
The 1000 Island Harbor Hotel shines for its’ location and amenities. The amenities add extra comfort to your stay from the nightly turn down service to the complimentary coffee on each floor. No better way to start the morning than a fresh cup of Seattle’s Best coffee!
The grounds of this property are a perk in themselves. There is ample patio seating, two fire pits and lounge chairs to unwind in. I couldn’t help but feel at ease.
In the evening, I spent time at the indoor pool and jacuzzi. In my opinion, there is no better way to relax than with a nightly swim and dip in a hot jacuzzi.
Come Join My Journey was welcomed to the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel as a guest, however, my opinion is as always my own.
