Lake Chautauqua: The warmth of fall

The leaves have begun to turn but the temperature has risen. This is fall in western New York. Sunbathing on a boat when it is almost October would usually be unimaginable. But here we are, on Chautauqua Lake, basking in the sun.

By the shore, the water wasn’t the clearest or the cleanest. But what is it to me? It looked like an image out of a kaleidoscope. I may not want to swim in it. However, it was cool to look at. Wouldn’t it be a bore if water all looked the same?

Once we got out into the depths of the lake, the water was a deep blue. The sun reflected beautifully, creating a glimmering image as the sun began to set.
